Pakistan – Afghani Plao

Plao is a dish which is famous in all over Pakistan. This dish is made up of rice and chicken. Afghani plao is one of its kind. This special type of plao is very delicious. This plao is unique type of dish because it contains whole chicken. We don’t cut the chicken into pieces in this dish.


  • Whole Chicken = 1.5 kilogram
  • Onion = 2
  • Tomato = 2
  • Black Pepper = 1 Tablespoon
  • Cumin Seeds = 2 Tablespoon
  • Paste of Garlic And Ginger = 2 Tablespoon
  • Rice = 3 cup
  • Salt = 1.5 Tablespoon
  • Oil = Half Cup
  • Green Chili = 8
  • Turmeric = As Required

Method of cooking

First add water in pot and add chicken in it (don’t cut the chicken) then add turmeric in it along with paste of garlic and ginger and salt. Put the flame on high and let the chicken to boil. Now heat up the oil separately and add onion in oil. Fry the onion until its color changes to brown. Add garlic and garlic paste, salt and eight green chili in it and fry it. After frying add some water in it and make a mixture. Add the chicken that you boiled before in it. Add three cup of rice in the whole mixture of chicken and the paste and let it cook under pressure. After some time check the water if evaporates or not. When the water dries serve it and enjoy it.
